How do I set up two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Cloudflare account. Cloudflare strongly recommends that all users take advantage of this feature when logging in to the Cloudflare dashboard.

Enable two-factor authentication

To set up two-factor authentication:

1. Log in to the Cloudflare dashboard (dash.cloudflare.com). You will see the Accounts home page, which lists each account that you're a member of.

2. In the top right corner, click the dropdown next to the user icon.

3. Select My Profile.

Configuring Authy

1. After clicking Authy in the My Profile page, an Enable Two-Factor Authentication pop-up appears instructing you to install the Authy app in your mobile phone. If you already have Authy, skip the installation.

2. In the Cloudflare dashboard, click Next. Another Enable Two-Factor Authentication dialog appears.

3. Enter your country, mobile number twice, and Cloudflare password then, click Next.

4. In your mobile phone, open Authy and locate the new Cloudflare code.

5. Go back to the Cloudflare dashboard and enter the code generated by Authy, then click Save.

Two-factor authentication is now active for your Cloudflare account. The next time you log in to the Cloudflare dashboard, you will need to enter a two-factor authentication code from Authy.

If you need to disable two-factor authentication at a later time, you can do so in the My Profile page of the Cloudflare dashboard.

Configuring Google Authenticator

1. If you don't have Google Authenticator installed in your mobile device, follow these instructions.

2. In your mobile device, open Google Authenticator and select BEGIN SETUP, then select Scan barcode.

3. In the My Profile page of the Cloudflare dashboard, click Google Authenticator. A Set Up Two-Factor with Google Auth dialog displays.

4. Back in Google Authenticator in your mobile device, scan the barcode displayed in the Cloudflare dashboard. A verification code now displays in your mobile device.

5. Go back to the Cloudflare dashboard and enter the code generated in your mobile device.

6. Make a note of your second-factor backup code. This will help you recover your two-factor authentication code if you ever need to replace your mobile.

7. Finally, click Verify code.
